I studied art and architecture at the 1960s before spending most of the next thirty years overseas. My love of the west of Wales, its light, land and sea was refocused and intensified on my return in 1997.
My paintings are now exclusively made in the studio as, following a period of illness and prolonged hospitalisation, my mobility is compromised. Contrarily, this is liberating as it enforces a separation from the actuality of the subject and allows my work to be increasingly introspective, drawn from memory and recalled emotion.
